CONCEPT
Hostels don’t have the best connotation. All too often, when people hear hostel, some initial thoughts may include: they’re dirty, cheap, aren’t safe, have no privacy, and they lack personality. However, not all hostels are created equally.
Verge was created to combine the best aspects of hostels and hotels. The result is an accommodation that is not only budget friendly and promotes interaction between travelers like a hostel, but is also well designed and provides the comfort of a hotel. Moreover, Verge is a sustainable, trendy hostel that is conveniently out of the way. It’s just close enough to a major city but far enough away to explore a less mainstream part of town travelers would not normally think to stay in.
POSITIONING
Verge is a cozy, fun, friendly hostel that inspires travelers to go on an adventure, make new friends, discover, and ultimately enjoy the small moments in life.
BRAND IDENTITY
The visual concept centers around a geometric logo that portrays the verging of Scandinavian and industrial influences. The left side of the logo’s symbol is a round leaf, which represents Scandinavian design and the right side represents the boldness and solidity of industrial design. Bright colors were chosen for the color palette to convey Verge’s fun and upbeat personality and a modern, geometric san-serif typeface was chosen to convey Verge’s friendly personality.
